Battery Pack Removal and Installation TechWriter Demo TechWriter Demo All SkyHawk RQ-7 variants Make sure that the aircraft is powered off before you remove the battery. The propellers can cause serious injury if the motors start. Do not touch the battery terminals with metal tools. A short circuit can cause burns or fire. Do not drop the battery. A damaged battery can catch fire. Do this procedure to remove the battery pack. Put the aircraft on a flat, stable surface. Make sure that the power switch is in the OFF position. The power switch is on the rear of the fuselage. Wait for 10 seconds to let the capacitors discharge. Find the battery latch on the bottom of the fuselage. Push the latch to the rear to release it. You will hear a click when the latch releases. Hold the battery pack with your hand. Pull the battery pack down and out of the battery bay. Support the battery as you remove it. Do not let the battery fall. Put the battery in a safe location. Do this procedure to install the battery pack. Inspect the battery pack. Look for these defects: Swelling or bulging Damage to the case Damage to the connector Signs of overheating Do not install a damaged battery. A damaged battery can catch fire during operation. Check that the battery charge is more than 20%. The charge level shows on the battery indicator LEDs. Press the button on the battery to see the charge level. Make sure that the power switch is in the OFF position. Hold the battery pack with the connector toward the front. Put the rear edge of the battery into the battery bay. Push the battery forward and up until the latch engages. You will hear a click when the latch engages. Try to pull the battery down to make sure that it is secure. Make sure that the battery is fully latched. A loose battery can fall out during flight. The installation is complete. Battery is securely installed Battery latch is engaged
